The November Capsule | Holding Space for the Details of the Chaos That Was November
Monthly Wrap Up | This month was WICKED!
This month feels like the longest month we have had all year, yet– where did the time go?! As I sat down to write this, I thought a lot about how I have been feeling since November 6th and there’s so much grief and rage I can share with you but I think I would rather share my hope instead.
There is no shortage of bad news for us right now. And we should definitely keep setting aside time to stay informed. But the thing that has surprised me the most is watching people scramble to try to find ways to come together. There’s been so many efforts to uplift marginalized communities and amplify suppressed voices. And that’s not nothing! A lot of what is going on in our world right now feels heavy. It feels big and overwhelming, but look at us already showing up for each other! Every act of community, kindness, courage, and love matters.
The one thing I have had to keep affirming for myself this month is, I am enough. I am doing enough. And I will grow as I go. So I am passing this on to anyone else who needs it, YOU ARE ENOUGH. YOU ARE DOING ENOUGH. AND YOU WILL GROW AS YOU GO. I saw a post on Tiktok that where a person said, Your best is what you can do without causing harm to yourself and that is boundary I live within now. Your rest and recovery is essential not optional. Rest is not a reward its a requirement. When we don’t give our bodies and minds the rest it needs it will demand it in ways that take us away from the work we feel passionate about and the people we love. Together is how we fight, but self care is how we win.
Im ending November with the hope that together we have the power and resources to endure whatever is to come. My hope is that together, we can all defy gravity.
My November 2024 Reading Wrap-up
I struggled sooooo hard this month to read anything cover to cover. But here are the 6 books that made it off my TBR. November was just a rough month in general, I never even got around to my October reading wrap up video but I will definitely do my best to create a vlog wrapping up my Nov Reads.
In the meantime, check out Part 1 of my Wicked Reading Vlog! Join me as I read Wicked for the first time and give you all my commentary about the book as a new fan of the cinematic musical!
My November Obsessions
My top 3 songs right now!
This should come as no surprise! I am absolutely OBSESSED with Wicked for some many reasons (which I definitely elaborate on in my reading vlog of Wicked the book) I would also say that I dont favor any of these songs over the other, they are all one song to me lol!
Top 3 Things I watched this month
Wicked | Currently In Theaters
This movie is unforgettable! For me as a black woman I found Cynthia Erivo so affirming and inspiring! Arianna Grande was immacculate! Jonathan Bailey was the leading man of my dreams and Michelle Yeoh had me hypnotized! I can not say enough good things about this movie! The representation, the themes, the story itself all spoke to me so deeply and I don’t know how to spend the next 12 months waiting for part two!?!?
Gladiator II | Currently In Theaters
Absurd and fun! I was really there for the Denzel and Pedro of it all and it did not disappoint. Denzel had me cracking up in his most chaotic form yet! I enjoyed this movie to see it in theaters but its def not my favorite genre so I dont think I would watch it over and over as I have done wicked but wow was it a crazy crazy ride to go on.
Arcane S2 | Netflix
Now this is on my TBW (to be watched) list. I havent had much time to get to it yet but as a cry baby, I am ready to sob because season one already destroyed me! I can wait to watch this one.
